Soulful Saturday

We thank you, Loyal Readers, for your wishes and condolences. We know that grief is shared, and all of you have lost loved kitties in similar ways, and it all feels too much to bear. We kitties perhaps cope better than the humans. Jaava has been very vocal with her displeasure about recent events, and has been making sure Äiti is kept on track with our routines. She is indeed the matriarch of the Felocracy - Jaava that is, not Äiti! She is staff.

I have been pondering the changes in the kingdom. Kalle and I are spending more time out of the bedroom - all fully supervised in case there's a bit of a bitey or so. There are some comfy beddies downstairs, and I appreciate these. Kalle is a bit more shy - he and Otso have perhaps a need to sort out how they will communicate. Whenever the Felcoracy membership changes a little, there are subtle shifts in the dynamic.

Here is the weekend jigsaw - enjoy!

Smart Saturday

Nothing smarter than a handsome sphynx.

And maybe you can admire me further as you do the jigsaw.

A Full Felocracy

Jaava and Jura are as close as ever to each other. They make good mutual pillows.
And there has been peace and calm with all of us - for a few moments at least. The Highly Prized Full Felocracy Photo was taken the other evening. Now it does reveal just how messy and disordered the Castle is (and Äiti's belief that jeesusteippi is the best thing for solving all decoration problems after Otso and Papu did their worst on the folding door!). So here we have our evening meal.

Kalle is gradually braving the world a the bottom of the stairs, and eating more than the rest of us added together. And he is coming for scritches in the night - this makes us all happy.

We are going to take a bit of a blogcation - Äiti is having the seasonal disorganisation and Black Dog visits, and feels she is lacking the creativity and oomph that our blog deserves. We have tried to slap her into shape and cajole her into recognising her priorities, but maybe she needs a bit of hibernation. So, we shall be back as soon as we can. In the meantime, here's a jigsaw from Wednesday's artified picture, and also one of the Full Felocracy - although none of us is showing our best sides. Enjoy!

Slothful Saturday

Yesterday was the solstice here, so we had maximum hours of darkness. And that of course means we have more excuses (as if needed) to sleep - pretty much all day. The burmese of course snuggle up. Mesi has been braving downstairs - Otso and Papu can tease her a bit when they feel a bit bored. However they were, of course, asleep.  Jaava and Jura provided a good pillow for the teeny tortie.

And the other day, Kalle climbed up onto the bed for the first time to stretch out and snooze, while Äiti was in it.  She was so pleased.
Kalle got a check from ystävämme eläinlääkäri who is delighted with his progress. His eyes are better than she expected - they still have an infection, probbaly fro old injuries (wethinks he may have been in fights when he was a fully endowed kollikissa.  He has been given a couple of shots for his scabby bits and bald patches - he has allergies. But he is very happy - and hungry. Äiti's current angst is keeping his appetite satisfied without giving his room mate -i.e. me - access to all his foods, as they do not last long when I am around!  Apparetlny 7 kg is enough weight for me to be carrying.....

And so now to your weekend entertainment - happy jigsawing!

Saturday Slacker

At least today's blog is on the right day, even though late. The girlcats have pinned Äiti down and she's doing her job. Just as well she is not so rubbish at feeding us!

Happy jigsawing with Kalle's cute fizzog.

Studious Saturday

Otso was on top of the tarting pile for teacher's pet. Shameless.
Äiti rarely brings her work home - basically becuase we do not let her work.   Sensible really.

Saturday Star

Finally Äiti has some decent photos of Kalle. He is doing well, and remarkably calm. His bald patches are regrowing and he is eating well. He uses his box like a good boy (unlike some of the rest of you - Äiti), and he has met us all. His eyes are a bit weird but he seems to cope well enough - he has plentiful active whiskers.

He has spent a lot of time with me in my private quarters, but he wants to exploretoo. Here he is on the stairs.

And of course the Magic Fish is a hit.
There have even been games involving more of us at a distance, playing together with this wonderful toy.
Kalle is settling very well. Jaava has welcomed him, and Mesi and Sampo clearly like him. Otso wants to play but is a bit clumsy and scary chasing him. Jura keeps a distance, but he and big moggy cats have a stinkeye thing going on - Otso and he often face up. Papu is pondering his strategy. Apart from a few hisses, there has been no aggression from or towards Kalle and this is Most Excellent. He does not seem to be capable of the stinkeye himself.

The blog is a bit late out today - looking at you Äiti. So we offer two jigsaws - an artified Papu and a bumper puzzle of Kalle. Enjoy!

Swipeday

No, this is not swiping left or right on some silly app*, this is swiping at string toys. Kalle has discovered these joys.

He loves his playtime and is increasingly relaxed about it.
And just look at those soft little toe beans!
*there is no need for any kitty to swipe right for Kalle - he already has an admirer - Lil'Ebba in Raahe has found a place in his heart and her Humans and Äiti will be passing on treats between her and Kalle.

Now some of us mancats are not interested in such things - we are too busy with the ol' mancat to mancat stinkeye. Happy jigsawing!

Saturday Snow Patrol

Otso can be trusted to check the Walls and boundaries.

In the meantime, snug snoozing for me - although there is some degree of excitement in the Felocracy. Maybe we post about it tomorrow...  Happy jiggysawing.

Saturday Shock

Did hell freeze over? Something has happened surely? Papu and Mesi in the same bed? Well, burmese do stick together!

Papu has been artified here for the jigsaw - enjoy!previewPapu

Social Saturday

Indeed, there are ripples in the Felocracy. I am with the furries more, and little Mesi has taken to sitting on Äiti's lap and wanting snuggles and scritches.

And we thought she would make a very fine jigsaw.

Saturday Snuggle Surprise

Äiti had to do a double take when she saw this. Yes, I am indeed in close proximity to a furry feline. Jaava is a noble peacemaker and friend to all of us. She had no worries about sharing a brand new beddie with me. As I am spending more time with the others, Äiti thought a new place to snuggle would be good and she chose something big enough to share, thinking that after a few days maybe I would be joined by another kitty. Well, Jaava and I were snoozing together within an hour, and Äiti had a big smile as a result.

And here is the jigsaw - a bit abstract but it shows off my tailio well. Enjoy.

Shiny Saturday

There are flocks of stinky birds in the gardens, and the less clever ones venture onto the Catio, and can even crash against the window glass. Äiti bought some special stickers for the windows to try to stop them from doing this. We of course do not approve, as a stunned snack or two could be yummy. But we do like the rainbows the stickers produce as the light refracts through them! So soothing on the fur.

Enjoy the puzzle!previewJaava and Jura

Saturday Sparkles

For a few years Äiti has been using some of the former-felocrats cremains to adorn her scraggy neck. She has had them made into glass beads, and this week the latest bead arrived - Seppo's.  She now has seven - yes, we have had more who have Gone Before, but these are the ones she especially keeps close to her heart.

The beads are made by an amazingly talented, kind and helpful artist in the UK, Gail, who runs the PainintheGlass Etsy store. Totally recommended.

And in the meantime, back on the Catio, we are focused on enjoying life with a little packet of kissanminttu which Jaava is about to steal from Papu.

And here is the artified jigsaw. Enjoy.previewJaava and Papu

Saturday Snorting

We have had a special delivery of kissanminttu and valerian. Our responses vary. Jaava savours the experience.

 Otso is very laid back.

Papu is wild.
And luckily I moved too fast for Äiti to get a camera when I was inhaling! Instead, enjoy the weekend jigsaw of me all artified.

Saturday Suspense

Outside in the Catio, autumn is in the air. And that means flocks of birdies in the garden. Those intelligent enough not to come inside will survive, allowing the best genes to propogate for the next year.
Those who are not so clever will be a tasty snack. Papu is our most active hunter, and despite all the precautions* Äiti thinks she has taken, some birds will still meet their fate between his fangs.
* extra layer of smaller netting; reflective tape; wires on the top beams to prevent perching.......

And here's the jigsaw, showing some of the mighty hunters taking a break. Enjoy.

Saturday Sadness and Thanks

Loyal readers, we thank you for all the messages of support regarding Seppo's passing. We are so darn sad about it all, especially my good self as I spent all my time with him in the Sphynxie Suite upstairs. I miss my buddy.

As you may know, we nekkids are very susceptible to HCM (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy) and although scans can be clear, the can be nasties lurking in our genes. Äiti took swabs of our cheek cells to send to a huge research project in the USA. Äiti does not want to know really if I have a mutation that might lead to it, as it is not treatable and illnesses manifest in many ways. Seppo became really fat with fluid, and had notother clear symptoms. Sadly this fluid build up (the dreaded ascites) very rapidly led to his death. He was in very good spirits until the end (Äiti was adamant he would not suffer), and his sweet nature still shone through. So did his appetite - he was pigging out on 5 pouches a day.

He was also very snuggly, and we spent a lot of time together.

Apologies for the poor lighting and dirty blankies - we sphynxies do like to spread our oils around!
This is one of Äiti's favourite pictures from last week.
Seppo was getting a few white hairs on his forehead - a fine mark of the wiosdom of age. However, 10 years is really not enough of an age for his life - we of course wanted many more healthy times with him. But, we are all grateful for the time we had.

Now Äiti is trying to get me to spend more time with the other Felocrats which will be fine by me provided they keep their teeth in their own mouths and claws sheathed!  And of course I get Äiti to myself over night - so I get lots of playtime and cuddles there. She is also thinking of buying me some fishies to watch - how does that sound ?

And here is a jigsaw for your weekend pleasure. Thank you all again for your support.
