Snug Saturday

It is snowy and chilly outside, but I have a wonderful beddy in which to snuggle, and watch the world. 

I have an excellent view of passing felocrats who may wish to take my place in this bed - that would be you Jura. But nope, this is mine. The others can go dance in the snow....

Sunday Snow Report

I thank the Loyal Readers who asked about our weather yesterday. As it is the start of European Daylight Saving Time here (much to our annoyance as it curtails our sleep a little), I thought I would say a little about the 'spring' in Finland(N). So here I am, in my sweater, at the window, wondering if I'll get to go outside in the next month.

This is the current view outside. Äiti has done reasonable snow work on the Catio and we hope that the icy snow will melt in the next month. There's still about 50 cm of snow in the garden and the temperature has reached +7'C some days. In the sun, it is warm enough for the furry felocrats to sit outside, and there is already a lot of light as the days rapidly get longer.

Spring is coming and there are more birds singing loudly. The snack dispenser nextbox at the far end of the garden is already being inspected. At some point the plants will start to grow and they are fairly explosive in that - one day they are twigs and within a week they are full of leaves. Each year Äiti means to take a time lapse, but never does.
In the meantime, we wait patiently for the warmth. Tessie is doing so too - she is wandering around indoors but so far has not eaten. She still has ages to wait for dandelions to come.

Sunny Day

 Yesterday Äiti cleared lots of snow from the Catio, and dumped it in the garden, beyond the wire. She is hoping that the snow will melt quickly, and  would like the 'swampy stage' to pass quickly as we hate that bit.

And as there was bright sunshine,of course Seppo came out. Luckily Äiti made him put a sweater on first. 

Thursday Playtime

With sunshine, some kitties get a bit of a spring in their paws and a glint of mischief in their eyes. Mirsku is a prime example.

Sampo has to be quick to escape his swipey paw.

 Mirsku just loves to clip our ankles as we pass by.

And with an innocent face like this he usually gets away with it - even when Äiti sees him.

We are very pleased to have sunshine but look at the snow that's still here. It's really cold and beautiful, but enough of the white stuff now, please!

Saturday Mousewatch

Yes indeed, who needs diets ? We need our foods to protect us from the cold temperatures of course. Ruska has his long furs which serve him well on mousewatch - but the shorter furred amongst us need our calories! 

Update on Pekka's bloodwork - all was fine and he is a fit and healthy mancat.

Friday Footprints

Does a mouse glow ? Asked by King Spitty yesterday, No, not as far as we know but we do have a light string outside and as it lies in the snow it creates mouse alleys. Can you see Pekka keeping watch over one here?

And this is why we are watching. See that teasing little trail of footprints between our mighty paw tracks ? Some mousie dared cross the Catio!

Frozen Friday

It may be snowy and chilly but Ruska knows his duties on mousewatch. Usually Äiti has to open the door about 4 times before he agrees to come back inside. Now that's sisu.

Patriotic Thursday

Yesterday we had a very pleasant time. The nekkids wore their patriotic sweaters and kept lookout.

Ruska had his thick furs and kept watch on the Catio.

All was well and we thank you for all the wishes you sent to our beloved Suomi for  her 100th birthday. There was much feasting and Äiti is now all confused as it felt like a weekend but she's still got two days at work. It doesn't take much to confuse her!

Snow Patrol Sunday

We admit this was taken a week or so ago - all the snow has now melted. But back then, brave mancats still went on mousewatch despite the cold.

Pekka has great optimism, but sadly there were no mousies.
