Thursday report

We thank you for your patience  Äiti is a bit 'off grid' right now. But we most definitely are not.

Kalle has made excellent progress and his eyes are bright and clear - lovely and round rather than all squinty and gunky.

He is coming downstairs more and seems to be getting on with most of the Felocrats - Otso can be a bit big and scary though.

I am fine and have even been outside for the first time this spring. In protest at Äiti's poor blogging though, I refused to have my photo taken properly.

Mesi is really missing Sampo and she is spending a  lot of time on Äiti's lap She had never been a snuggler - except with her burmese relatives - but now she is a tortie velcro strip.

Thursday Report

We thank you for your support for Kalle. He is recovering from surgery and will hopefully have no more nasty eye ulcers.

He will have his stitches removed next week. The smart blue bandage has already been removed!

Saturday Snaps

We are posting by command of a most Loyal Reader, ystävämme eläinlääkäri. It's about time Äiti got off her butt and obeyed us as well! All is well here, with a few frustrations. For instance, Papu is pretty desperate to be outside killing mousies.

He realises that actually looking cute is a good interim activity.

Otso is working out how to wreck Äiti's jigsaw hobby.

And Sampo is owning the peacock feather with his murder mitts.

And Kalle is enjoying night time snuggles. He is continuing to have eye problems and next week he will have some surgery to correct his eyelids which are rolling under. He will be far more comfortable when this is done - poor lad was probably born with this problem and it is only now that it is diagnosed because it has taken a long time to calm down with ointment since he arrived with us.  So paws crossed for his beady eyes!

Felocracy Update

We thank you kindly for all the wishes. We are good - Äiti has had a bit of a rough time with the Old Black Dog but seems to be pulling herself out into the world a little more. We're negotiating the blog's future and I have to report that claws up the nostril at 4 am is not a technique that seems to be encouraging her to blog in. Pffft.  I am pondering other tactics.

We have freezing temperature outside and Papu is unhappy as he is desperate to kill something but is not wanting to freeze his paw pads off. Otso, however, has more sisu, and indulges the desire of every suomalainen mies (Finnish man) to pee outside in the snow.

And we are delighted to present Kalle, with his eyes wide open.  He is still being treated for his poorly eyes and alllergies.

A Full Felocracy

Jaava and Jura are as close as ever to each other. They make good mutual pillows.
And there has been peace and calm with all of us - for a few moments at least. The Highly Prized Full Felocracy Photo was taken the other evening. Now it does reveal just how messy and disordered the Castle is (and Äiti's belief that jeesusteippi is the best thing for solving all decoration problems after Otso and Papu did their worst on the folding door!). So here we have our evening meal.

Kalle is gradually braving the world a the bottom of the stairs, and eating more than the rest of us added together. And he is coming for scritches in the night - this makes us all happy.

We are going to take a bit of a blogcation - Äiti is having the seasonal disorganisation and Black Dog visits, and feels she is lacking the creativity and oomph that our blog deserves. We have tried to slap her into shape and cajole her into recognising her priorities, but maybe she needs a bit of hibernation. So, we shall be back as soon as we can. In the meantime, here's a jigsaw from Wednesday's artified picture, and also one of the Full Felocracy - although none of us is showing our best sides. Enjoy!

Slothful Saturday

Yesterday was the solstice here, so we had maximum hours of darkness. And that of course means we have more excuses (as if needed) to sleep - pretty much all day. The burmese of course snuggle up. Mesi has been braving downstairs - Otso and Papu can tease her a bit when they feel a bit bored. However they were, of course, asleep.  Jaava and Jura provided a good pillow for the teeny tortie.

And the other day, Kalle climbed up onto the bed for the first time to stretch out and snooze, while Äiti was in it.  She was so pleased.
Kalle got a check from ystävämme eläinlääkäri who is delighted with his progress. His eyes are better than she expected - they still have an infection, probbaly fro old injuries (wethinks he may have been in fights when he was a fully endowed kollikissa.  He has been given a couple of shots for his scabby bits and bald patches - he has allergies. But he is very happy - and hungry. Äiti's current angst is keeping his appetite satisfied without giving his room mate -i.e. me - access to all his foods, as they do not last long when I am around!  Apparetlny 7 kg is enough weight for me to be carrying.....

And so now to your weekend entertainment - happy jigsawing!

Saturday Slacker

At least today's blog is on the right day, even though late. The girlcats have pinned Äiti down and she's doing her job. Just as well she is not so rubbish at feeding us!

Happy jigsawing with Kalle's cute fizzog.

Wednesday Fail

This is a total fail on Äiti's end of term report card - she failed to produce our blog yesterday. We apologise to Loyal Readers and reassure them there will be bloods - I do a particularly good job when I run across her face each morning.

All is good with us - the priority. With Äiti - well it's the end of a school year, she is tired and old and lazy and just plain human. So we have paws crossed that the jolly Crimbo break comes soon. In the meantime, Kalle is continuing to eat, play and rest and generally be a wonderful boy. We are even chasing a little around our quarters - he's becoming a bit of a pal.

Saturday Swatting

The Magic Fish continues to provide much joy: Kalle is the latest Felocrat to love to play with it. He's had a good week, but is choosing to spend a lot of tie in the bedroom. Wise move.
Have fun with the jigsaw!

Saturday Star

Finally Äiti has some decent photos of Kalle. He is doing well, and remarkably calm. His bald patches are regrowing and he is eating well. He uses his box like a good boy (unlike some of the rest of you - Äiti), and he has met us all. His eyes are a bit weird but he seems to cope well enough - he has plentiful active whiskers.

He has spent a lot of time with me in my private quarters, but he wants to exploretoo. Here he is on the stairs.

And of course the Magic Fish is a hit.
There have even been games involving more of us at a distance, playing together with this wonderful toy.
Kalle is settling very well. Jaava has welcomed him, and Mesi and Sampo clearly like him. Otso wants to play but is a bit clumsy and scary chasing him. Jura keeps a distance, but he and big moggy cats have a stinkeye thing going on - Otso and he often face up. Papu is pondering his strategy. Apart from a few hisses, there has been no aggression from or towards Kalle and this is Most Excellent. He does not seem to be capable of the stinkeye himself.

The blog is a bit late out today - looking at you Äiti. So we offer two jigsaws - an artified Papu and a bumper puzzle of Kalle. Enjoy!

Swipeday

No, this is not swiping left or right on some silly app*, this is swiping at string toys. Kalle has discovered these joys.

He loves his playtime and is increasingly relaxed about it.
And just look at those soft little toe beans!
*there is no need for any kitty to swipe right for Kalle - he already has an admirer - Lil'Ebba in Raahe has found a place in his heart and her Humans and Äiti will be passing on treats between her and Kalle.

Now some of us mancats are not interested in such things - we are too busy with the ol' mancat to mancat stinkeye. Happy jigsawing!

Saturday Shift

So Kalle is now On The Bed and has discovered toys and kissanminttu. This is Good.

Yes, I do think it is good, BUT I need to be back where I belong, and in the bedroom getting my snuggles, so this is maybe the next thing on which to focus.

And I need to keep an eye on Äiti - I have heard her call the new boy 'Kunkku Kalle.' Kunkku  is kind of slang for king. And we are not a monarchy, and he is not exactly a natural born leader. Frankly, Äiti learning Finnish is not a good thing sometimes - I am trying to persuade her that the correct word is Kinkku (which means ham).

Happy jigsawing.

Wednesday Update

So the new boy is still getting special treatment. In the meantime, I am not able to be in the bedroom overnight as I am - allegedly - too unsettled and he needs to take things slowly. Pffft. Luckily I have plenty of beddies and a snuggle partner or too during the day. But alas, at nights I am stuck in the sauna.
But what of Kalle? Well, he is resolutely Under The Bed but allows himself to be moved for snuggles - a bit wierd as most shy kitties back off. he, however, relished the head rubs and has even allowed some belly rubs. He then heads back to the darkness and dust for a snooze. He is eating more, with dried food being his favourite.
As you can see, he has bald bits from his allergies. But we are not sure what he is allergic to yet. Äiti says we must be patient as he needs time to learn to feel safe.

Sunday Surprise

Welcome to Kalle, the new Kit on the Block.

It has not happened for a long time; Äiti has resisted all temptation after Otso arrived to calm down the burmese bounciness of the Felocracy. However Äiti saw a photo of a handsome ginger tabster at the local shelter, Vierashuone , and he looked so sad and in need of a forever home, she had to find out more. And well of course, finding out more led to him arriving on Friday evening.

Kalle is maybe 6 years old, is well built and strong (7 kg) but has some skin allergy/problems and also is very sensitive to light* and does not see very well. I, the Viscount Veikko, spent Friday night with him and he was very calm - and allowed me to eat all his foods. He spent Saturday Under The Bed while I was with the others. He seems sad, and maybe has had some trauma so Äiti is taking things at his pace.

She has decided the name Kalle suits him; it is from the Swedish for 'Charlie'. Now England has a king Charles, and Sweden King  Karl (Charles) Gustaf - but I do not think we could possibly return to being a monarchy.  Kalle can just be Kalle. Paws crossed he settles and has a long and happy life here.

*because of his eyes, photos are very limited - flashes are not fun
