Sad Wednesday

We are really sad to report that Roosa made her journey to the Rainbow Bridge on Monday evening. Äiti is pretty upset as she slept in Roosa's room each night and was kept in order by her yelling and demands. Roosa disliked other felines and was, to put it mildly, feisty with us, so she loved having Äiti all to herself, and Äiti appreciated her snark and paw of control (not forgetting the ever present Claw of Doom which was always extended and swift to swipe).

The photo below was taken on Sunday evening, as Roosa devoured scritches. Äiti had noticed something odd was happening: Roosa was really scared and sat hissing and growling as though her room had been invaded by us, but we were all outside. Äiti realised things were not good so gave Roosa painkiller which calmed her and made her very soppy and purry. However the fear and distress returned the next day, likely bought on by liver failure and the kindest, hardest decision was taken,

For Äiti and ystävämme eläinlääkäri this is the end of an era. About eight years ago Äiti rehomed the 'Muhos Gang' or Rilli, Ruska, Risto-Reipas and Roosa after their lovely human died far too young. Now the Muhos Gang have joined her and we know they are reunited as they should be. Run free, Roosa.

Wonderful Wordless Wednesday

No! We cannot be wordless. We wish to thank our fantastic Loyal Readers for this bounty.  We are humbled, and have  very full bellies. Nurru, Raisu and Tilli; and Max, Tepsu and Lil Ebba you have the best humans ever.

Sunday Snack and Scritch

As you may recall, Roosa occupies her own room. We are pretty jealous of this as it is where Äii sleeps. Yesterday Äiti upgraded the bed in there and Roosa was all over it. The treats helped, but she spent the day sprawled out luxuriously. She likes being a solitary kitty and detests any sort of feline company from the rest of us.

So she gets all her attention at night. And she is,of course, very demanding.

Settled Sunday

Roosa is a demanding room-mate and she ensures that Äiti gives her lots of attention each night. She dislikes feline visitors to her queendom. Usuallyshe sleeps by Äiti's side but was snapped recently actually lying on her. A rare treat.

Saturday Art

We are pleased to report that karma has caught up with Äiti, after all the abandonment watching stinky birds. Not only did she lose a hubcap from the car somewhere on some rocky forest track, she clocked a speeding ticket for the first time ever (something of a miracle, this) and finally her phone met a watery grave - dropped into a toilet pan. Oh how we laughed.
All of these are surely messages for her to focus on what is important - us.  And the feline who giver her the hardest time over this hobby of bird watching and its removal of her from the Castle, is Roosa. She gets the opportunity to wake Äiti at all hours to make our displeasure known. Good job.
So, to try out the new phone camera, Roosa was the subject. Not a bad photo; Äiti would have got her finger bitten had she dared try to clean the eye gunk !

And as it is Saturday, she has been artified.

Sunnyday

After the snowy blizzard, we all woke yesterday to sunshine. In the Stumpy Suite, the light is bright in summer and Roosa makes the most of this. As soon as she hears Äiti stir, she is on duty asking for scritches, breakfast and more scritches.  This is the bestalarm clock for Äiti.

She-cat Friday

And today's post is devoted to out stubborn stumpy, Roosa. She's not keen on facing the camera- especially when food is around.

Last week Äiti spent ages moving things between the front bedroom and the back one (Roosa's room). Unfortunately the front bedroom is now full of clutter covered in plastic sheets, which we felocrats want sorted as it is disturbing the feng shui of the Castle. Äiti is now sleeping most nights in the 'Stumpy Suite' as it has better light and ventilation, and a very demanding girlcat who wants Äiti's company at night. Roosa is excellent at spotting when Äiti is restless and demanding scritches.

 Äiti has little choice but to pay attention. Roosa purrs up a storm and is very happy.

 And here's a daylight shot. Roosa is doing really well, despite her lifetime habit of  out of the box deposits and dislike of all other felines. We do try to sneak in to the room, looking for food, but never dare go near her - we value our skin!

Monday Manxie

Thanks to this manxie madam, we have been deprived of sleeping alongside Äiti each night. Roosa has grown accustomed to Äiti's snoring and whenever she wakes up,starts yelling for a chin scritch. However she was not happy to have photographic evidence of this captured.

Roosa is doing really well in her own suite. There are occassional break ins when some kitty sneaks through the barriers (Sampo mainly) and then hissing and spitting results, swiftly followed by grabbing by Äiti and an eviction. Personally I think Roosa is greedy to have Äiti every night and I do miss  under the blankie snuggles. However, I have been promised some when the school holiday comes and Äiti can afford to have her sleep disrupted by us.

Toesday

We are sure there are some very cute toes under there, but only a fool would try to persuade Roosa to show them......

Saturday Snark

Roosa, quite understandably, is questioning Äiti about her latest blankie - a rainbow 'thing'. After convincing Roosa it was not lava, she actually stood on it. But refused to lie on it.

 In fact she made her point very clear as our stumpie stomped off.

Sunday Snacking

Roosa is enjoying having company most nights as Äiti has changed things so she sleeps in 'the Stumpy Suite' (Roosa is a manxie).  She does not tolerate other kitties in with her, although her long time pal Ruska used to be allowed in. She is very sociable with Äiti and is amply rewarded with treats.

We like the tin - Kiss-kiss is a make of sweet here and is Finnish for puss-puss. However I can confirm that Roosa is not very sweet to us. Do yousee that Claw of Doom on her front paw ? Itnever retracts....

Fiendish Feline Friday

We have a treat for you today, Loyal Readers.I am delighted to revealthe latest commission for the Felocracy's Art Collection: Tamsin Lord's Fiendish Finnish Feline Midwinter Madness.

Some of you may remember her painting of Fiendish Finnish Feline Midsummer Madness which featured many of us - including my nekkid self. Now as soon as she saw that painting, Äiti knew she had to have a winter version. Tamsin Lord is a very good artist with a long waiting list, so now we have the second painting, a couple of years later. And it features a delightful winter scene on the Catio. Now of course I am not outside as it is too cold, but we have many furry felocrats featured. In fact, all those who were not in the first painting (Äiti likes to be fair).
So Sampo and Jura are fishing, and Sampo just catches polliwogs with his red pipey fishing rod. Jaava is pushing Ruska away from her fishies. Lewis is shyly sat with our winter visitor, the hare, eating his fish politely. Pekka is protecting the Catio from the snow castle ramparts, along with all the mousies which will not live to see the end of winter. Roosa has used the Claw of Doom to good effect on the squirrel - she has removed its tasty liver.  And Poo Corner is out of action so the brown bergs are piling high alongside the golden glacier.  So it is all pretty realistic! (Äiti's note-especially realistic is the girlcat stinkeye on Jaava and Roosa!). 
We are delighted with this painting and it has pride of place in the best lit room in the Castle - the kitchen so Äiti can sit and look at it when she sits at the table there. Thank you so much Tamsin, and yes, Äiti is definitely wanting another commission - and I think I should be in the next one of course to befit my status as Viscount Veikko.  She's already thinking about a sauna scene, and I am indeed a lover of the heats.

Welcoming Wednesday

Roosa was one happy kitty when Carolyn was here; she got to have a human sleep in her room. Whenever any of us went in she swiped at us and hissed, but with her new best buddy, she was very tarty. Typical tortie......

Magnificent Monday

Why magnificent ? Well, apart from the fact it is the start of hiihtoloma (ski break holiday - NOT that Äiti will be skiing), here we have photos of a new habit for Roosa - being a lapcat.

And she is loving scritches, drools a lot and digs her laws in Äiti's knee out of sheer bliss. 

She is one happy manxie.

From the Stumpy Suite

Roosa here. As you may recall, I have my own luxury quarters - upstairs with my own balcony. I don't really like those nosey other cats, and since my brother Risto left us in December, I have been happy with my own company. If any kitty gets too close, the hissing and yowls can be heard from way off. I like Äiti though.

And of course can still manipulate her with my pleading eyes.
