Friday Felocrats

Papu joined me on the Catio, and we did ponder some synchronised leaping, but it was too hot.   

As the spokescats for the blog we had a discussion about how it was all going, and we decided to allow Äiti a little break from blogging next week as her work is resuming. So after tomorrow's post we'll be having a bit of a snooze for a week or so. She won't !

Sunday Sorting

 We had some snow the other day, and Äiti used this as an excuse for not tidying the garden. Instead she put up an new, extra large snack dispenser (in the tree in the centre). It is for woodpeckers who are quite large snacks for us and come with a built in toothpick.

She did tidy the Catio and Otso was out inspecting.

He was not afraid of the snow and climbed to the highest places to thoroughly check things from all angles. 

Thursday Tidy Up

As it is the autumn break from work, Äiti has tidied the Catio and prepared it for winter. She has taken own the shelves in the past, but last year left them up and they survived. Basically it was laziness, but as it gave us earlier access to sunpuddles in spring, we did not complain.

And yes, there was still snow on the ground although it has thawed out now. Even so, I was keeping away from all outdoor activities and mae sure the heaty pads were working properly.

Winter is Coming

In autumn break, Äiti prepares the Catio and garden for winter.  This year she has a new additionto the world beyond the Catio,a hedgehog house (centre of the picture). Her wonderful neighbours, Loyal Readers and Servants to Kisu and Reetu made this amazing construction.They also made one for their own garden, and there is a lot of competition between the houses as to which will be occupied. Unfortunately we have not seen our hedgehog since the roof was done - we think he got disturbed by them.

Äiti also put up two bird feeders, and all that grey stuff on the ground is frosty sunflower seeds.

On the Catio, she has covered a lot of the furniture,but decided to leave out the shelves. The beds will be removed when the snows really fall.  Pekka inspected the tarp closely.

Mirsku did watch from the table, which Äiti also covered over.

He did not want to hang around and went inside.  The camera on the tuulikaappi hasn't been live for ages but as always Äiti is slow to make changes, like removing it.

Pekka and Mirsku are pleased with the winterisation process since under those tarps there are many mousie hiding places.

Monday Mayhem

The Castle roof is being replaced over the next couple of weeks-necessary but inconvenient. Äiti emailed the company to ask about the Catio (i.e. would it be safe) and got no reply so  she went ahead withher paln to just cover it.  Here is our beloved Catio, with a beautfiul sunflower too.

 All the pots were moved first. This also meant some kissanminttu was harvested-the flowers removed for next year's seeds.

Next Äiti threaded some blue ropes down from Roosa's balcony, with which she can lift the coverup over the Catio roof.

Jura was unimpressed, and Pekka was far more concerned with mousewatch as he was convinced a rodent  was under the barbecue.

Äiti hoisted the cover-grumbling that doing this on a windy day was not fun.   She rolled upthe front part so that we werenot completely blocked off: tomorrow morning she will unroll it and secure it.

In the meantime we're in a windy tent.  Äiti says tomorrow we are confined indoors until we know how disruptive it is all going to be.

Monday Mesi-ing

So now it is autumn,we finally get some more Catio furniture! Äiti had to clear up some wood someone else had left by the house, and it included a really long piece of wood which reaches right across the Catio. We have called it the Bridge of Balance. The burms were straight up there - well Mesi and Jaava were. Their tortietude demanded it.

 Maybe you see why it got it's name now!

 But it did survive the Mirsku test.

Mesi has decided it is her territory, as she  approaches the camera intent on attacking the pawparazzi.

Thursday Playtime

With sunshine, some kitties get a bit of a spring in their paws and a glint of mischief in their eyes. Mirsku is a prime example.

Sampo has to be quick to escape his swipey paw.

 Mirsku just loves to clip our ankles as we pass by.

And with an innocent face like this he usually gets away with it - even when Äiti sees him.

We are very pleased to have sunshine but look at the snow that's still here. It's really cold and beautiful, but enough of the white stuff now, please!

Snow Patrol Sunday

We admit this was taken a week or so ago - all the snow has now melted. But back then, brave mancats still went on mousewatch despite the cold.

Pekka has great optimism, but sadly there were no mousies.
