We are extremely sad to report that Aila, our great matriarch, made her way to meet Those Who Have Gone Before. She had done really well on her thyroid meds, but in the last week showed signs of a rapid decline, and she let Äiti know it was her Time. Äiti is pretty devastated - Aila was the last of the Britcats, who came to live with her in Finland (N) thirteen years ago.
Aila was just 6 weeks old when Äiti met her at The Moggery in Bristol. She was extremely tiny and cute, and irresistible. She was still so very young, but she had an excellent role model in Stran who was to be her best buddy forever, helping her through the move north. However, she was not quite a nurturing adult to Punapippuri when he tried to play !
She was indeed pretty snarky and sassy, and she loved her life as Queen of the Catio.
Over the years, she met many Felocrats, and she was a steadfast influence to us all. We knew not to mess with her when at the food bowl, and she would always be the first to solve any evil treat feeder challenges.
We are deeply sad of course, but also can look back at the photos and smile because Aila lived life to the full, and Äiti is so very grateful to have had such a wonderful feline, and feels honoured to have been Aila's human. She will be missed so much, but it was indeed time for her to meet the others. We will look for her tailio dancing in the revontulet, the northern lights, and we will all smile as she whaps the other tailios out of her way.
As Loyal Readers will no doubt understand, Äiti needs some time. Even though she knew Aila would not be around forever, this is still a shock. She'll go on a little blgocation, and we Felocrats are going to see how these changes will alter out hierarchy. We are now a Gang of Eight, with Jaava as the new matriach. I, Viscount Veikko, have my sleeping quarters back to myself (Aila had been in there with me for a while), but maybe it is time for me to stretch my paws more too. We shall see.
I'm so sorry about Aila. We will miss her (and her attitude) a lot too. Many, many purrs to you.
