These were spotted Beyond the Catio, and are attached to feathers, and a head and beak combo which will act like a hammer. However, Mr Woodpecker (greater spotted for you species spotters) is perhaps quite tasty if we can get beyond the beak and somewhat grippy toes.   

And yes, that white stuff is snow. We do expect the temperature to rise slightly this week - just as well as Äiti needs to tidy the garden.
