Timid Thursday

Now this is a very old photo from the archives- from June 2005 in England. Harris and Lewis had just been adopted from the local shelter, and they were very scared, hiding under the bed. They stayed there a long time, but that was okay - they needed time.
In the rescue centre (The Moggery, Bristol) they had been in a cage together for about 6 months - apparently two brothers who were 4 years old and brought in because their vile staff were moving house and also wanted some cats who were 'a bit more interactive'. Well, despite a long time in the Moggery, they have had a much better  life now  in The Felocracy, and great adventures flying here to Finland with Äiti and setting up the Catio. Harris left for the Bridge a few years ago, and is much missed.
They were given names 'Harris and Lewis' at the Moggery as the theme when they were taken in was islands, and these are two islands off Scotland. Äiti liked that and next came Stran (short for Stranraer which is a Scottish port - he was called Dan at the rescue centre and Äiti wanted something similar).  And next Islay which is pronounced as Aila in Finnish so the spelling was changed.

  4. Such dear boys! I knew their names came from the Scottish Islands, but didn't know until now that Stran was named for Stranraer.

  5. Wonderful names for wonderful cats. And Aiti is a wonderful person, indeed, for understanding and accepting ( and loving) Harris and Louis as they are/were.

  6. I started out here under the bed too. I soon came out and soaked up all the loves that mum can give. Glad you have a wonderful home too.

  7. How kind that you allowed them the time UTB to get adjusted!

We love comments from our Loyal Readers, even though Äiti is really bad at commenting back. But please don't let that stop you......

Saa kirjoitta suomeksikin - Äiti on laiska, mutta on pakko oppia suomea.

Tervetuloa! Welcome!
